"Leprechaun's Vacation in Delaware" 1990.

“Leprechaun’s Vacation in Delaware” 1990. Acrylic on wood with sculptural additions and custom frame, 38 x 37 inches.

This is one of my most totally weird paintings! A weird vase, a genie’s shoe, an invisible plant all sit on a windowsill overlooking a pond or river. On the other side is a pink pod house and an invisible tree. Then there is a 3d carved leprechaun’s head smoking a pipe shining on the vase. What could it all possibly mean? Then there is a huge reverse bevel frame with yellow on blue wood grain waves. Then there is the title. Why did leprechaun go on vacation in Delaware? No one can explain this. It is totally mysterious. I don’t remember my motivation or intention. Perhaps I had none and was in a state of visionary detachment. Sometimes that happens. The work is now in a private collection.

Leprechaun smokes his pipe with confidence. He knows no one will ever figure out what he did on his vacation.
