“My Dainty Chair” 1987 Acrylic paint on modified found chair, with plush upholstery 38 x 16 x 32. Collection of the artist.
In the 80’s East Village art scene there was a fashion for “customizing” a found objects from second-hand shops or found on the street of in dumpsters. I reworked the back of this awkward chair, adding the portrait of a bunny. The seat was covered with plush synthetic fabric, acquired from a friend who was a plush toy animal designer.
Dainty or not, its fun to sit on this wacky chair. Saved from the dumpster! Hooray!
